Vishwas Hegde Appointed Chairman of ICSI Bengaluru Chapter
Bengaluru: Vishwas Shankar Hegde has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Bengaluru Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) for the year 2026. His term will commence on January 19, 2026, chapter sources confirmed.
The Bengaluru Chapter is the third largest in the country, representing more than 4,000 Company Secretaries. Mr. Hegde’s elevation comes after years of active service and leadership within the chapter.
ICSI is a premier professional body established under an Act of Parliament—the Company Secretaries Act, 1980—and functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
The institute regulates and develops the profession of Company Secretaries and provides professional education and standards for CS members. Headquartered in New Delhi, ICSI has four regional offices, 73 chapters across India, centres for corporate governance and training, and six overseas centres.
It represents over 75,000 members and nearly 2 lakh students, making it the largest body of Company Secretaries globally. Mr. Hegde has had a steady rise within the Bengaluru Chapter. In the elections held in December 2022, he secured the third rank in overall voting.
He subsequently served as Treasurer in 2023, Secretary in 2024, and Vice Chairman in 2025. His unanimous election as Chairman followed the chapter elections held on December 8, 2025.
A native of Hegde Village in Kumta Taluk of Uttara Kannada district, Mr. Hegde is the son of late Shankar Ganapati Hegde and Laxmi Shankar Hegde. A native of Hegde Village in Kumta Taluk of Uttara Kannada district, Mr. Vishwas Hegde is the son of late Shankar Ganapati Hegde and Laxmi Shankar Hegde.
Coming from a modest caterer and farmer family, his professional achievements are considered noteworthy. He holds degrees in Commerce, Administration and Law (Master’s), and qualified as a Company Secretary in 2015. With over a decade of professional experience, he is currently serving as Deputy Company Secretary at Bangalore International Airport Limited.
