Prashant Kishor accuses BJP, JDU of targeting Jan Suraj candidates ahead of Bihar polls

Patna, : Amid the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor (PK) has once again stirred the political atmosphere. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in Patna, PK alleged that the BJP and JDU are actively intimidating Jan Suraj candidates, claiming the ruling parties now fear Jan Suraj more than the Mahagathbandhan.
According to PK, three announced Jan Suraj candidates – Muthur Shah (Danapur), Satya Prakash Tiwari (Brahmpur), and Shashi Shekhar Singh (Gopalganj) – were allegedly pressured to withdraw their nominations. “Those in power are worried about Jan Suraj. Our candidates have faced coercion in constituencies where BJP-JDU leaders feel threatened,” he said.
PK emphasized that Jan Suraj’s focus is not power but systemic reform, which poses a challenge to traditional parties. “The BJP isn’t afraid of the Mahagathbandhan; their real concern is Jan Suraj. Any talk of alliance fears is only to mislead the public,” he added.
He also highlighted the party’s candidate profile: “Over 200 of our candidates are contesting for the first time. More than 90% are grassroots leaders, with only 5% having links to other parties. We have not given tickets to external leaders.”
Addressing the changing political dynamics in Bihar, PK said, “Politics here is shifting. Those who earlier relied on caste and money are now anxious about Jan Suraj’s honest faces. This time, the public will understand the real alternative.”
PK’s allegations have heightened political tensions in Bihar. So far, neither BJP nor JDU has issued an official response. However, Jan Suraj insists that this election will be decided by people’s participation rather than brute power or influence.
