Under the updated PMMVY 2.0 (Mission Shakti) guidelines for 2026, the scheme provides significant benefits not just for the first child, but also an increased incentive for a second child if it is a girl.

  1. Benefits of the Scheme: The financial assistance is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account in installments: (Child Category, Benefit Amount, Installment Breakdown):

First Child – Rs 5,000 – 1st Installment (Rs 3,000): After pregnancy registration and at least one Antenatal Check-up (ANC).

2nd Installment – (Rs 2,000): After child birth registration and first cycle of immunization.

Second Child – Rs 6,000 – Single Payout: This is provided only if the second child is a girl, to promote the welfare of the girl child.

Note: Combined with other schemes like Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), many women receive an average total of ₹6,000 for their first delivery.

  1. Eligibility Criteria: To avail of these benefits in 2026, the following criteria must be met:

Age: The woman must be 19 years or older.

Income/Status: Targeted toward socially and economically disadvantaged sections. This includes women:

  • With a net family income of less than Rs 8 lakh per annum.
  • Belonging to SC/ST categories.
  • Holding a BPL Ration Card or MGNREGA Job Card.
  • Holding an e-Shram card.

Employment: Women in regular employment with the Central/State Government or PSUs are excluded, as they typically receive paid maternity leave.

  1. Documents Required: Keep these documents ready for a smooth application:
  • Aadhaar Card (Mandatory for the mother; husband’s Aadhaar is no longer mandatory).
  • MCP Card (Mother and Child Protection Card) with registration and ANC details.
  • Aadhaar-seeded Bank Account details (for Direct Benefit Transfer).
  • Proof of Eligibility (Caste certificate, BPL card, or income certificate).
  • Birth Certificate and Immunization records (for later installments).
  1. How to Apply:

You can apply both online and offline:

Online: Visit the official portal: pmmvy.wcd.gov.in.

Click on ‘Citizen Login’ and register using your mobile number.

Fill out the Beneficiary Registration form (Form 1A for the first child).

Upload the required documents and submit.

Offline:Visit your nearest Anganwadi Centre (AWC) or Government Health Facility.

ASHA workers or Anganwadi workers will help you fill out the forms and submit them to the Block/District officials.
