Pakistan relocates over 72 terror camps after Operation Sindhoora 2.0: BSF on high alert
Jammu: Even as India prepares for Operation Sindhoora 2.0, Pakistan has reportedly shifted more than 72 terrorist camps away from the international border, according to a senior BSF officer. The move comes in the aftermath of India’s targeted military operation against terror infrastructure earlier this year.
Between May 7 and May 10, Indian security forces carried out precision strikes on several Pakistan-based terror camps that were operating close to the border. Many of these facilities were destroyed, forcing Pakistan to relocate the surviving camps to safer, deeper locations.
According to BSF intelligence inputs, more than 12 active terror camps have now been moved to the Sialkot and Zafarwal regions. Others—over 60 camps—are operating from deeper areas far away from the border, said BSF DIG Vikram Kunwar while briefing reporters in Jammu.
Kunwar said terror camps remain mobile and are frequently shifted depending on infiltration needs. “These camps become active when attempts of infiltration are planned. Their locations change regularly. As of now, no such camps are operating near the international border, and the BSF continues to maintain round-the-clock surveillance,” he stated.
Before India launched Operation Sindhoora earlier this year, several camps run by Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba were active along the border. Post-operation, both groups have been forced to disperse and shift their bases, officials confirmed.
BSF Jammu Frontier Inspector General Shashank Anand said the force is fully prepared to undertake further operations if directed by the government. “If Operation Sindhoora is revived, the BSF is ready to execute every order,” he said.
‘Will inflict double the damage if needed’
Drawing from decades of experience, IG Anand asserted that BSF is equipped to respond decisively to any threat. “From the wars of 1965, 1971, and the 1999 Kargil conflict, to the recent Operation Sindhoora, the BSF has vast operational experience.
Whether it is conventional warfare or hybrid conflict, if we are given the opportunity, we will cause double the damage compared to what happened in May,” he said.
With terror groups attempting to reorganize and Pakistan shifting infrastructure deeper inland, security forces remain on high alert along the border. The BSF has intensified surveillance and reinforced deployment to prevent any infiltration attempts as India evaluates the next phase of its counter-terror strategy.
