No trace yet of second car used in Delhi blast; three states intensify search

New Delhi: Investigators probing the Red Fort Metro station car blast have revealed that two vehicles — a white Hyundai i20 and a red Ford EcoSport — were used in the incident. Police teams from Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have launched a large-scale search for the red car, but no concrete leads have emerged so far.

According to central investigation agencies, the red Ford EcoSport bearing registration number DL10CK0458 was allegedly used by the suspects. The car was registered on November 22, 2017, at the Rajouri Garden RTO under the name Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, believed to be the second owner of the vehicle.

Based on this information, all three states have been placed on high alert. Check-posts and patrolling teams have been instructed to intercept and inspect every red Ford EcoSport on the roads. Police officers have been ordered to secure any vehicle matching the description and report it immediately to senior authorities.

Doctor under suspicion:

Investigators suspect that Dr. Umar, a medical professional, may have executed the attack single-handedly, fearing capture after his two accomplices were allegedly detained. Reports suggest that Umar, along with Dr. Mujammil and Dr. Shaheen, had planned the Red Fort blast as part of a 10-member terror module.

Sources said Umar was previously employed at a hospital in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, but was terminated following the death of a patient. In 2023, he joined the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences in Faridabad.

Police and intelligence agencies are now tracing all connections linked to Umar and his associates, suspecting that the group may have wider links to a medical professionals’ terror network involved in the Delhi explosion that left eight people dead.

Security agencies have tightened surveillance in and around the capital, as forensic and counter-terror teams continue to examine the white i20 wreckage and trace the missing red EcoSport believed to have been used for the blast’s logistics.
