India sets new milestone in space: ISRO successfully launches ‘Baahubali’ satellite
Baahubali Satellite : Marking a major milestone in India’s space journey, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched its heaviest communication satellite, nicknamed ‘Baahubali’, at 5:26 PM on Sunday.
The launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota using India’s most powerful rocket, LVM3. The satellite, named CMS-03, is a multi-band communication satellite designed to provide coverage across the entire Indian landmass and a wide expanse of surrounding oceanic regions, ISRO said in an official statement.
Weighing 4,410 kilograms, CMS-03 is the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil. The LVM3 rocket, popularly known as ‘Baahubali’ for its strength and reliability, once again demonstrated its capability to carry heavy payloads into orbit, marking a proud moment for India’s indigenous space technology.
According to ISRO scientists, the mission aims to strengthen India’s communication infrastructure and expand internet and network connectivity to remote and rural regions.
ISRO Chairman S. Somanath hailed the mission’s success, saying, “This launch is yet another testimony to India’s growing prowess in advanced space technology and self-reliance in the field.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the ISRO team, calling it “a proud moment for every Indian and a shining example of our technological excellence.”
