IMD Issued Heavy rainfall Alert: Announced school holiday
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Karnataka, Goa and Kerala on Monday, July 15. Besides, Orange Alert is in force in Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. IMD Issued Heavy rainfall Alert: Announced school holiday.
Amid IMD’s red alert in Goa for heavy rains on Monday, the Goa Education Department declared a school holiday. It has been raining heavily in the state for the past four days. State Education Director Shailesh Zingde said on Sunday, “Due to heavy rains and red alert sounded by IMD, all schools from Std I to Std XII across Goa will remain closed on Monday.”

The India Meteorological Department, in a July 14 press bulletin, has forecast “very heavy rain” in Goa and Maharashtra till July 16 and Karnataka and Kerala till July 15. Besides, Odisha is likely to experience “heavy rain” on July 15, 17 and 18. In Arunachal Pradesh, till July 16 in Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Bihar.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted heavy rains in four states including Gujarat and Goa on July 15 and 16. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the five states of Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh for the next four days.

In its latest forecast, the IMD has sounded an orange alert for Mumbai and Thane districts on Monday and Tuesday, citing the possibility of heavy to heavy rainfall at isolated pockets. Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka are expected to receive heavy rainfall today and tomorrow, IMD scientist Soma Sen said. A red alert has been issued for the entire west coast for the next 4 days.
