Heavy Rainfall Alert: After days of heatwaves, states in northwest region are likely to witness wet spell till 24 May. Heavy Rainfall Alert in these states for next 2days. For next three days, light to moderate rainfall is predicted for several states including Delhi.

According to a daily weather bulletin by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm is likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during 21st-24th with peak rainfall intensity on 23rd May.

The weather agency said isolated hailstorm is likely over J&K on 22nd; over Himachal Pradesh on 22nd and 23rd; over Uttarakhand on 21st and 22nd and over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan on 23rd May.

Of these, some states like J&K, Himachal, Uttarakhand and Punjab are likely to witness isolated heavy rainfall on Sunday and Monday. Besides rainfall, dust storm is likely to hit West Rajasthan during 22nd and 24th and East Rajasthan during 21st-24th May.

Rainfall is also predicted for northeast India. In this region, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfalls with thunderstorm are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim during the next two days and decrease in rainfall intensity thereafter.

For southern India, the IMD said light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms are very likely over Kerala during the next 5 days and over Karnataka on 21st and 22nd with isolated heavy falls over Karnataka and Kerala on 21st May. Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are expected to receive scattered light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm.
