Guidelines for Documents Required for New Aadhaar Card

For New Aadhaar Card there are some documents required to verify the applicant's personal details. As proof of identity, documents like Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence, School Leaving Certificate (SLC) or School Transfer Certificate (TC) with name and photograph can be used.

New Aadhaar Card: Along with the application form, there are some documents required to verify the applicant’s personal details. As proof of identity, documents like Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, School Leaving Certificate (SLC) or School Transfer Certificate (TC) with name and photograph can be used.

For address proof, documents like bank statements, passport, electricity/water/landline bills (last three months), ration card etc. can be used. The application requires proof of date of birth and documents such as birth certificate, passport, School Leaving Certificate (SLC), or School Transfer Certificate (TC) bearing name and date of birth can be used for this.

Aadhaar application requires establishing applicant’s relationship with head of family for Aadhaar card through pension card, applicant’s passport, government issued marriage certificate and ration card. For children below 5 years of age, the application needs to include the Aadhaar card of one of the parents along with other documents.

Eligibility for Aadhaar Card:

Any resident of India (newborn/minor) is eligible for Aadhaar card. While Aadhaar card is for adults, BAL Aadhaar is for children under five years of age.

Non-Resident Indians and foreigners staying in India for more than 12 months are eligible for Aadhaar. It is proposed to issue Aadhaar card to NRIs holding Indian passports after arrival in India without waiting for 180 days.

Aadhaar Card for Non-Resident Indians:

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), including minors and adults, holding a valid Indian passport can apply for and get an Aadhaar card.

Aadhaar Card or Bal Aadhaar for minors:

Aadhaar enrollment is also available for minors and newborns. Parents’ identity and address proof must be provided to apply for Aadhaar card for children. However, they have to update their biometric data twice, once when they turn 5 and again when they turn 15. Bal Aadhaar card for children below 5 years will be blue in color.

Steps to Enroll for Aadhaar Card:

Find an Aadhaar Enrollment Center by visiting the UIDAI website.

Fill the form with the requested details.

Submit the necessary documents.

Provide your biometrics (fingerprint and iris scan).

Get enrollment acknowledgment slip.

Aadhaar card will be sent to the registered address.

Aadhaar enrollment is voluntary and free.
