Four killed in head-on collision near Maharashtra border


Basavakalyan, : A tragic road accident in Umarga taluk of neighboring Maharashtra on Tuesday morning claimed the lives of four residents from Bidar taluk, while two others sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment at Umarga Hospital.
The accident occurred near Dalimbi on the national highway under Murum police station jurisdiction, when two cars collided head-on. The deceased have been identified as Ratikant Maruti Basgond (30), Sadanand Maruti Basgond (19), Shivkumar Chidanand Wagge (26), and Santosh Bajrang Basgond (19), all from Kashempur (P) village, Bidar taluk.
Among the injured are Digambar Sangol from the same vehicle and Lavanya Masoni, the driver of the other car from Sollapur. Both are receiving medical attention at Umarga Hospital.
The victims were reportedly traveling to the famous Hulajanti Malingarayan temple fair near Vijayapura, and the accident occurred around 6 a.m., when the vehicle from Umarga heading towards Sollapur collided with their car. Both cars were severely damaged, and occupants had to be rescued with the help of a JCB vehicle.
DYSP Sadashiv Selar and Murum police officials including Sandeep Dahifale visited the accident site to supervise the rescue and investigation.
