Breaking: Stone quarry collapses, 15 feared trapped

Mizoram Stone quarry collapses: The collapse of a stone quarry on Monday evening in Mizoram’s Hnahthial Village has reportedly trapped many workers. A large group of workers were in the neighbourhood at the time of the occurrence.

Fifteen employees, at the very least, are thought to be buried under the rubble. Local law enforcement is on the way.

Three officers were killed when the car they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep ditch in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Monday. Police said that one officer was seriously injured in this accident.

The accident occurred near Assar on the Batote-Kishtwar National Highway around 10.45 am when the vehicle was carrying a team of road and building department officials, said Bhwinder Kotwal, local station house officer.

The vehicle carrying the officers fell into a 200-metre deep ravine, killing Poonch’s Executive Engineer Rafeeq Shah, Udhampur’s Assistant Executive Engineering Kamal Kishore Sharma and Doda’s driver Mohammad Hafeez. Superintending Engineer Suresh Kumar was seriously injured in this accident and was sent to the hospital. The accident took place due to foggy weather and heavy rain making the road invisible. The injured officer has been referred to Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu for specialized treatment.
