Before the start of every new month, RBI releases the bank holiday list. Accordingly, there are few days left for the month of December to end and RBI has released the holiday list for the month of January. Banks have a total of 16 days of holiday in the first month of the New Year (2024), including Republic Day.

Some have already made financial plans for 2024. So there will be bank related jobs in the first month of the year. For example, if you plan to buy a house or car in 2024, you may have to visit the bank in January to get a bank loan. So it is better to plan by looking at the January holiday schedule.

Holidays are given according to respective regional celebrations and festivals. However, only public and gazetted holidays are applicable to all banks across the country. Now all Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays are holidays for all banks across the country.

There is no problem for online transactions during holidays. However, it is better to check the holiday list instead of visiting the bank. Bank Holidays are divided into three categories by RBI.

The holidays in the RBI holiday list will be applicable to public sector, private sector, foreign banks, co-operative banks and regional banks.

January 1: The first day of the new year

January 7: Sunday

January 11: Missionary Day (Mizoram)

January 12: Swami Vivekananda Jayanti (West Bengal)

January 13: Second Saturday

January 14: Sunday

January 15: Pongal / Thiruvallur Day (Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh)

January 16: Tusu Puja (West Bengal and Assam)

January 17: Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti

January 21: Sunday

January 23: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti

January 25: State Day (Himachal Pradesh)

January 26: Republic Day

January 27: Fourth Saturday

January 28: Sunday

January 31: Mi-Dam-Mi-Fi (Assam)

Those who have made new year resolutions should start implementing them from January itself. Therefore, if you have to visit the bank in the month of January to implement the financial resolutions you have taken in the year 2024, do not fail to look at the holiday list.
