Aadhaar mandatory for dialysis scheme in Karnataka now
Aadhaar mandatory: The Karnataka government has reportedly issued a notification making Aadhaar authentication mandatory for beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s National Dialysis Program (PMNDP) implemented through the Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust. Aadhaar is mandatory for dialysis schemes in Karnataka now.
According to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), Priority Household (PHH) and non-PHH ration card holders will have to provide Aadhaar proof or undergo Aadhaar authentication to avail the benefits of the scheme.

However, the government has made it clear that no person – adult or child – can be denied dialysis treatment because they do not have Aadhaar, the report said. In such cases, alternative identification documents will be accepted. A register will be maintained to track these exceptions for audit and monitoring purposes.
In areas where there is a shortage of Aadhaar enrolment centres, Aadhaar enrolment facilities will be set up at the block or taluk level to support implementation. This move aims to increase transparency, improve service delivery and ensure effective distribution of entitlements under the scheme.

The department also outlined provisions for individuals who face biometric authentication challenges, such as poor fingerprint quality. Alternatives will be made available, including iris scans, facial recognition, OTP-based authentication or QR code verification of physical Aadhaar characters.
