The Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suggested that the airline companies should refund 75% of the money to the passengers if they have a flight ticket are not allowed to travel in the reserved class due to various reasons. DGCA New Rules on flight tickets: Now Don’t worry if the flight ticket is cancelled.

In this regard, the rules have been amended and the revised rules will come into force from February 15. This rule will be applicable for domestic flights. 30 to 75 percent refund will be given in case of international flight ticket cancellation or change of class.

However, it will vary depending on factors such as ticket cost, taxes, travel distance etc. A senior DGCA official informed about the revised rule. There were many complaints from passengers about not being allowed to travel in the class reserved for the ticket and airlines downgrading the ticket (allowing travel in a lower class than the reserved class).

Therefore, DGCA said that revision has been made in the rule. DGCA had proposed in December 2022 that airlines should refund the full amount in cases of downgraded tickets. In addition, a proposal was also made to provide free travel to the affected passengers.
