Yathindra Siddaramaiah’s supporter caught abusing BEO in Nanjangud; video goes viral

Mysuru: A supporter of Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has sparked outrage after allegedly abusing and threatening a Block Education Officer (BEO) in Nanjangud.

The incident, captured on video, shows the accused Kumar verbally assaulting Nanjangud BEO Mahesh in full public view, using foul language and resorting to open intimidation.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Kumar — a resident of Bilugali village — behaving aggressively and claiming authority by introducing himself as a “gram panchayat member.” However, officials clarified that it is Kumar’s wife who is an elected panchayat member, not Kumar himself. Despite this, he is seen asserting power and shouting at the officer.

Kumar allegedly confronted the BEO for not appointing a candidate of his choice as a guest teacher at the Bilugali Government Primary School. When the official reportedly refused to comply with the illegal demand, Kumar allegedly resorted to verbal abuse and attempted to manhandle the officer.

At the time of the incident, Yathindra Siddaramaiah was attending a KDP meeting in Nanjangud. While Yathindra was inside the meeting hall, his supporter Kumar created a commotion outside, leading to widespread criticism and accusations of misuse of political proximity.

The incident has triggered anger among residents and education department staff, who have condemned the “political arrogance” displayed by Kumar. Many have demanded strict action and protection for education officers who often face undue pressure from politically connected individuals.

Local organisations and officials have urged the police to register a case, arguing that such behaviour undermines administrative integrity and encourages a culture of fear among public servants.
