Udupi Gears Up for June 28 Pulse Polio Drive for Children Under Five

A district-wide Pulse Polio immunization campaign will be held in Udupi on June 28, ensuring every child below five years receives the vaccine through dedicated booths, mobile teams, and health workers.

The Udupi district administration has urged parents to ensure that every child below the age of five receives the Pulse Polio vaccine during the National Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign scheduled for June 28. Additional Deputy Commissioner Abid Gadyal said the campaign aims to protect every eligible child from polio.

Chairing the District Immunization Task Force Coordination Committee meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he emphasized that children should receive the vaccine on the campaign day even if they have already been vaccinated in previous rounds.

The vaccination drive will be held from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM across the district. A total of 65,401 children under the age of five have been identified for immunization. To ensure smooth implementation, 665 vaccination booths, 19 transit teams, and 3 mobile teams have been deployed. Around 2,660 vaccination workers and 155 supervisors will oversee the campaign.

Officials directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination. Health department staff, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers have been asked to actively participate. Schools, Anganwadi centres, and other suitable government and semi-government buildings will be used as vaccination centres.

The administration has also instructed departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply from June 25 until the completion of the campaign so that vaccination activities continue without disruption.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Mahantesh Hangaragi, District Health Officer Dr. Basavaraj Hubballi, District RCH Officer Dr. Jyothsna B.K., District Surveillance Officer Dr. Nagarathna, taluk health officers, and other district-level officials.
