Rs 7.11 crore ATM robbery: Police constable, ex-CMS employee emerge as key conspirators

Bengaluru: The sensational Rs 7.11 crore ATM robbery case in the city has taken yet another twist, with investigators now revealing a shocking collaboration between a police constable and a former CMS employee.

The Southern Division police have already arrested Govindapuram Police Constable Annappa Naik, who has been identified as the mastermind behind the daring heist. However, further investigation has uncovered that Xavier, a former CMS employee, also aided the robbery.

Xavier had left CMS about a year ago, but reportedly remained in close contact with Annappa, who had been transferred to Hoysala after working on the crime beat in Banashankari.

Police sources revealed that Xavier and Annappa held regular meetings, during which Xavier shared detailed information about CMS cash transport procedures, including the movement of vehicles and security protocols.

The robbery gang planned the heist based on these insights, understanding the CMS route and devising an escape strategy. While Xavier and Annappa were not physically present at the scene, they meticulously plotted how the gang would execute the robbery and flee the city.

Following their plan, the gang intercepted the cash-laden vehicle, seizing Rs 7.11 crore and escaping. Police investigations are ongoing, with both Xavier and Annappa currently in custody for questioning. Meanwhile, the hunt for other members of the robbery gang continues under the supervision of four Joint Police Commissioners and 18 DCPs.

Authorities are still tracking the stolen money, trying to locate its current whereabouts. The case has not only highlighted internal lapses in security but also exposed the alarming involvement of insiders, raising serious questions about internal vigilance and accountability.

The investigation remains active, with authorities determined to trace all accomplices and recover the stolen cash while uncovering the full extent of the conspiracy behind one of Bengaluru’s most audacious robberies.
