Namma Metro Purple Line Services to Pause for Two Hours on August 9

Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited has announced a temporary change in services on the Purple Line on August 9. Metro trains between Baiyappanahalli and MG Road will remain suspended for two hours in the morning to facilitate essential maintenance work.

According to the notice issued by BMRCL, the temporary disruption will take place from 7 am to 9 am on Sunday. Passengers using the Purple Line during these hours are advised to take note of the change and plan their journeys accordingly.

The maintenance activity will be carried out between Swami Vivekananda Road and Indiranagar Metro stations. BMRCL has scheduled the work during the early morning period to limit the impact on passengers while allowing the necessary maintenance to be completed safely.

During the two hour period, services will not operate between Baiyappanahalli and MG Road. This means passengers travelling through six stations located along this section, including Trinity and MG Road, will not have metro services available during the scheduled maintenance window.

The temporary restriction is specifically linked to the section between Baiyappanahalli and MG Road. Other parts of the Bengaluru Metro network will continue to operate according to their regular schedules during the same period.

Services from Challaghatta to MG Road will continue as scheduled. Similarly, trains from Baiyappanahalli towards Whitefield, also known as Kadugodi, will operate normally. This arrangement will allow passengers in other parts of the network to continue using Metro services even while the maintenance work is underway on the affected section.

The Green Line service from Madavara to Silk Institute will also continue according to the regular timetable. Services between RV Road and Bommasandra will remain operational as well.

BMRCL has advised passengers to consider these temporary changes before starting their journey on Sunday morning. People who normally travel through the affected section may need to adjust their travel plans during the two hour interruption.

For regular Purple Line commuters, the timing of the suspension is particularly important. The affected services will stop at 7 am and are scheduled to resume from 9 am. Once the maintenance activity is completed, trains on the affected section between Baiyappanahalli and MG Road will return to normal operations.

The temporary suspension is part of the routine maintenance work required to keep the metro system operating safely and efficiently. Such work can involve planned checks and maintenance of infrastructure and operational systems along the network.

Bengaluru has seen a steady expansion of its Metro network, making the system an important mode of transportation for daily commuters. Passengers using connecting routes should also pay attention to the service pattern. Since some portions of the Metro network will remain operational, travellers may find that their usual route is available on one side of the affected section but interrupted across the maintenance zone.

BMRCL has not announced a full day closure of the Purple Line. The disruption is limited to the two hour morning period. After 9 am, metro services across the affected section are expected to resume as usual.
