Mystery deepens as woman’s body found being transported in car near Maldare Lingapur check-post

Madikeri: In a shocking incident that has raised serious suspicion, forest department personnel at the Maldaare Lingapur check-post discovered the body of a woman inside a car during a routine inspection.

The unexpected recovery of the corpse has sparked a major investigation, with Siddapur Police intensifying efforts to uncover the circumstances behind the woman’s death and the attempted transport of her body.

According to officials, the forest staff stopped a car for inspection on Friday night when they noticed suspicious behaviour from the occupants. Upon checking the vehicle, the team was stunned to find the body of a woman concealed inside. The deceased has been identified as Nankidevi (45), originally from Haryana and reportedly living with her husband in Mysuru.

Siddapur Police Station Inspector Manjunath rushed to the spot soon after being alerted by the forest personnel. The three men travelling in the car were immediately detained and taken into custody for questioning. Police sources say the men have provided inconsistent statements, leading investigators to suspect foul play.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding the transportation of the body  without any documentation, police intimation, or explanation  have heightened concerns. The motive behind moving the corpse secretly remains unclear and has become a crucial part of the ongoing inquiry.

Police officials confirmed that the case has been handed over to Siddapur Police for a detailed probe. Investigators are now attempting to determine whether the woman died under natural circumstances, was murdered, or was a victim of any other criminal act.  The body sent for autopsy.
