MP Yaduveer Wadiyar slams officials over ‘administrative high-handedness’ in Mysuru

Mysuru : Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has strongly criticised officials over what he termed as “administrative high-handedness” at Chamundi Hill, alleging that authorities are ignoring both public representatives and local residents.

Addressing media persons in Mysuru, the MP said there has been a growing number of complaints against the functioning of the Chamundi Hill Development Authority. “Officials are running the administration without accountability. They are not listening to anyone, including elected representatives and local residents,” he said.

He pointed out that the issue of the Chamundi Hill Authority is currently under judicial consideration, yet officials continue to function without transparency. “There are widespread complaints that officials are not responding to local concerns. Even basic issues raised by residents are being ignored,” he added.

Taking a broader swipe at governance in the district, Wadiyar remarked, “There is an अधिकारी raj prevailing in Mysuru. The voices of elected representatives are not being respected. This is not a healthy sign for democracy.” He also expressed disappointment that such a situation persists in the home district of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “Despite repeated requests, officials are not responding. This reflects poorly on the administrative machinery,” he said.

On development issues, the MP spoke about the long-pending underpass project near Kukkarahalli Lake. He said necessary clearances from concerned departments have now been obtained and work is expected to commence within 15 days. “We have pushed for this project to ease traffic congestion, and I am hopeful it will finally take off soon,” he stated.

Wadiyar also highlighted environmental concerns associated with development works. Referring to a ₹63 crore project, he said steps are being taken to ensure minimal ecological damage. “We are working with an NGO from Kerala to relocate trees scientifically, ensuring that environmental balance is maintained,” he noted.

The MP further raised objections to what he called “unscientific installation” of traffic signals across Mysuru city. “Signal lights have been installed at very short distances without proper planning. This is causing unnecessary delays and inconvenience to commuters,” he said. He questioned who had authorised such installations and demanded a review of the decisions.

“Public resentment is growing due to these issues. Authorities must act responsibly and address concerns promptly,” Wadiyar warned.

The remarks have once again brought the spotlight on governance issues in Mysuru, with calls for better coordination between officials and elected representatives to ensure effective administration.
