Organised as part of the Independence Day celebrations, this year’s edition promises a unique blend of history, culture, and horticultural excellence. The iconic Glass House at Lalbagh Botanical Garden has been transformed into a spectacular floral destination where visitors can experience the grandeur of the ancient Ganga dynasty through thousands of beautifully arranged flowers.

Unlike previous editions that focused mainly on botanical displays, the 2026 flower show takes visitors on a journey through more than a thousand years of Karnataka’s history. Floral installations depicting the achievements, architecture, and cultural legacy of the Ganga rulers have been carefully designed to create an immersive experience. Organisers believe the exhibition will appeal not only to flower enthusiasts but also to history lovers and families looking for an educational outing.

The twelve day exhibition will continue until August 17 and is expected to attract lakhs of visitors from across Karnataka and neighbouring states. The official inauguration is scheduled for August 6 at 11 am, with Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar expected to formally open the event. Preparations have been completed well in advance to ensure visitors enjoy a smooth and memorable experience throughout the festival.

One of the biggest highlights of this year’s exhibition is the recreation of important landmarks associated with the Ganga dynasty. Visitors will be greeted by impressive floral replicas of the famous Bahubali statue at Shravanabelagola, one of Karnataka’s most celebrated heritage monuments. The exhibition also features detailed floral representations of the historic temples of Talakad, allowing visitors to witness the architectural beauty of these landmarks in an entirely new form.

The organisers have also recreated scenes representing the powerful elephant army of the Ganga rulers. These floral sculptures capture the military strength and royal heritage of one of South India’s most influential dynasties. Carefully arranged flowers of different colours and textures have been used to bring these historical scenes to life, making them among the most photographed attractions of the exhibition.

Beyond historical monuments, the exhibition also celebrates the lasting contributions of the Ganga dynasty to Kannada literature, education, irrigation, and sculpture. The Department of Horticulture has invested around Rs 2.75 crore to organise this grand event. More than 130 rare varieties of flowers have been sourced from four different states to create elaborate floral installations across the garden. These flowers have been selected for their vibrant colours, unique textures, and ability to remain fresh throughout the exhibition period.

Apart from the displays inside the Glass House, the surrounding areas of Lalbagh have also received a decorative makeover. A specially designed artificial waterfall near the famous Lalbagh Lake is expected to become one of the major attractions for visitors. Attractive selfie points have also been created throughout the garden, giving families and tourists several opportunities to capture memorable photographs during their visit.

With large crowds expected every day, organisers have introduced several measures to improve visitor convenience and safety. Online ticket booking has been arranged to reduce waiting time at the entrance. Additional parking facilities have also been provided to accommodate the increased number of vehicles expected during the twelve day festival.

Security arrangements have been significantly strengthened for this year’s event. Around 136 CCTV cameras have been installed across the venue to monitor visitor movement and ensure public safety. Police personnel will be deployed throughout the botanical garden to manage crowds and maintain order during peak visiting hours. Ambulance services will also remain available at all four entrance gates to respond quickly in case of any medical emergency.

Officials believe these arrangements will help visitors enjoy the exhibition without unnecessary inconvenience. Traffic management plans have also been prepared in coordination with local authorities to reduce congestion around Lalbagh during weekends and public holidays when footfall is expected to be the highest.
