KMF expands retail reach, pushes ‘Cafe Moo’ and modern Nandini shops

Bengaluru: In a major retail expansion drive, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is modernizing its existing Nandini outlets and planning aggressive expansion to strengthen brand visibility and customer access.

From traditional milk booths to franchised parlours, Nandini’s retail journey has evolved significantly over the past five decades. With 53 years of brand presence, KMF now offers nearly 200 products, ranging from milk and curd to value-added items such as ghee, milk powder, Mysore Pak, cakes and ice creams.

The products are available not only in major Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Pune but also in international markets. Currently, 130 outlets are operated by Mother Dairy in Bengaluru, while six milk unions manage additional parlours and franchise units.

KMF plans to open 70 more outlets this year, targeting a total of 200 shops. These stores are being redesigned as attractive, mall-like retail spaces with prominent branding and improved customer facilities.

Efforts are also under way to secure land from the Bengaluru Development Authority and Greater Bengaluru Authority. Managing Director B. Shivaswamy said the Chief Minister has also directed officials to facilitate land allocation for new outlets.

In addition to regular shops, KMF is promoting its high-tech “Cafe Moo” concept, which offers dine-in facilities along with Nandini products. Cafe Moo outlets are operational at REVA University, CMR University and Kempegowda International Airport Terminal 2, with two more locations planned.

Officials said while Cafe Moo has seen strong demand in Kerala, expansion in Bengaluru will be gradual based on customer response.
