Karnataka Reports Rise in Covid Cases as Health Officials Urge Public Not to Panic

Covid cases have increased in Karnataka during July but health officials say infections remain mild while monitoring continues closely amid growing concern following reports from neighboring Andhra Pradesh

A gradual rise in Covid cases has once again drawn public attention in Karnataka, following fresh reports of infections in neighboring Andhra Pradesh. Although the increase has sparked concerns about a possible resurgence, health authorities have stressed that the current situation remains under control and does not indicate a major outbreak.

According to official figures, Karnataka has recorded 32 positive Covid cases during the first part of July. In comparison, only 14 infections were reported throughout June, showing a noticeable increase in recent weeks. Health officials said that 193 suspected individuals were tested, with 32 samples returning positive.

The rise in cases comes as Andhra Pradesh has also reported fresh Covid infections, leading to renewed discussions about the virus after several years of relatively low activity. Reports from the neighboring state have raised public concern, especially because Covid had remained largely under control for an extended period.

Despite the increase in numbers, Karnataka’s Health Department has advised residents not to panic. Health Commissioner Gurudatt Hegde said that the cases identified so far are not considered severe. He explained that many infections were detected during routine mandatory screening before surgical procedures, with several patients showing no symptoms at all.

The commissioner also addressed reports of Covid related deaths in Andhra Pradesh, stating that authorities are in contact with officials there to gather complete information. He emphasized that the situation in Karnataka is different and that there is currently no evidence suggesting a widespread or dangerous surge in infections.

Health experts continue to monitor the situation closely as a precaution. Surveillance and testing remain active, allowing authorities to identify new cases quickly and respond if necessary. Officials have assured the public that daily assessments are being carried out to track any changes in the spread of the virus.

Medical professionals recommend following basic hygiene practices and seeking medical advice if symptoms such as fever, cough, or breathing difficulties develop. While there is renewed attention on Covid, officials maintain that there is no reason for unnecessary fear at this stage.

The recent rise serves as a reminder that the virus has not disappeared completely. However, health authorities believe that continued monitoring, timely testing, and public awareness will play an important role in keeping the situation under control if cases continue to emerge in the coming weeks.
