Karnataka Covid-19 cases rise again: first Covid-19 death reported in state

Karnataka Covid-19 cases: The first Covid-19 death was reported in Bengaluru on Saturday after the recent Covid-19 pandemic, the Karnataka Health Department said in an official statement.

The Health Department said that 108 people have been tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, of which five have tested positive. One person has been discharged from the hospital and the total number of active cases is 38. Out of the total 38 active Covid-19 cases, 32 have been reported from Bengaluru.

The report said that 92 people have been tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours and two people have tested positive. The report said that there is one active case each in Bellary, Bengaluru Rural, Mangalore and Vijayanagar districts, while two active cases have been reported in Mysore district.

According to health department sources, the deceased is an 85-year-old man. A woman who returned from Mumbai has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been kept in home quarantine, sources said. In Belgaum, a pregnant woman who had travelled to Pune last month has tested positive for Covid-19.

Many district hospitals, including Dharwad, have opened 10-bed ICU wards exclusively for the treatment of Covid-19 infected individuals. Sources have confirmed that the Technical Advisory Committee has advised the Health Department to start Covid-19 testing from Sunday in eight medical colleges across Karnataka.
