Under the Public Distribution System (PDS), e-KYC has been made mandatory for BPL (Below Poverty Line) and AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) ration card holders. Those beneficiaries who completed their e-KYC five years ago are also required to complete the process again as per the latest guidelines.

The government had earlier set September 30 as the deadline for completing e-KYC. However, considering that a large number of beneficiaries are yet to complete the process, the deadline has now been extended to provide another opportunity.

Ration card holders have been given time until October 20 to complete their e-KYC. With only two days left for the deadline to end, the Food Department has urged all those who have not completed the process to do it immediately.

What Happens If e-KYC Is Not Completed Within the Deadline?

If ration card holders fail to complete their e-KYC within the specified period, they may face difficulties in availing ration benefits, including free rice provided under government schemes. Therefore, beneficiaries are advised not to wait until the last date and complete the process at the earliest.

How to Complete Ration Card e-KYC?

To complete the e-KYC process, ration card holders can visit their nearest Fair Price Shop along with their Aadhaar card and ensure that their Aadhaar details are linked with their mobile number. The e-KYC can be completed through fingerprint authentication or other required verification methods at the shop.

For those who are unable to visit a Fair Price Shop, the government has provided another convenient option. Beneficiaries can download the β€˜Anna Seva’ app from the Google Play Store and complete the ration card e-KYC process from their homes.

The list of ration card holders whose e-KYC is pending has already been sent to all Fair Price Shops across different taluks in every district. Citizens can visit their nearest Fair Price Shop and check whether their name is included in the pending list.

Especially, ration card holders who have migrated from their native places to other districts or urban areas in recent years must verify their e-KYC status without fail.

To ensure that your ration card remains active and that you continue receiving government-provided ration benefits, completing the e-KYC process is extremely important. All eligible beneficiaries are advised to complete the process immediately without waiting until the last date.
