The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stepped up preparations for the 2027 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to a Cricbuzz report, the auction will take place on December 16, 2026, at the luxurious ITC Grand Goa hotel. The BCCI’s logistics team has already shared the preliminary details with all 10 IPL franchises through a WhatsApp message.

A day before the auction, on December 15, the BCCI will hold a briefing meeting with franchise owners, head coaches, and chief executive officers (CEOs). The meeting will focus on the auction guidelines, salary purse limits, player registration process, and other key regulations.

The official bidding process will then begin on December 16. Although the BCCI is expected to issue an official email notification shortly, the governing body has shared the information in advance via WhatsApp to help franchises make travel arrangements, including flight and hotel bookings.

Most franchises have confirmed receiving the message and have already begun internal discussions and logistical planning. With the auction date and venue now confirmed, all IPL franchises have intensified their preparations for the 2027 season.

Teams have started evaluating their retention and release strategies while identifying domestic and overseas talent to strengthen their squads. Every franchise is expected to carefully assess experienced stars as well as emerging young players in a bid to build a balanced and competitive team for the upcoming season.
