IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Karnataka till May 24
IMD predicts heavy rainfall: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather warning on Sunday, warning of heavy rainfall in various parts of the country.
According to the official announcement, heavy rainfall is expected in the west coast including Karnataka, Konkan, Goa and Kerala as well as nearby areas of peninsular India till May 24, 2025.

Till May 20 in various states including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; till May 24 in Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka and North Interior; Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from May 20 to 22; Rayalaseema from May 18 to 20; and South Interior Karnataka from May 18 to 21.
Furthermore, the heaviest rainfall is expected in areas including coastal Karnataka from May 20 to 22, south interior Karnataka from May 20 and north interior Karnataka from May 19 to 22. Extremely heavy rainfall is likely in Coastal Karnataka on 20 May, IMD said.
The IMD has warned that winds gusting up to 50-60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph are likely in Konkan and Goa from May 20 to 23, in Madhya Maharashtra from May 20 and 23, and in Marathwada on May 20.
There is a possibility of hailstorm in Himachal Pradesh on May 19 and Uttarakhand on May 19 and 20. Scattered light to moderate rains accompanied by thunder, lightning and squalls are likely to occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, among other areas, till May 20.

Uttarakhand Police has requested that pilgrims going on the Chardham Yatra should travel with caution, consider the weather and call 112 in case of any emergency. In Delhi, the weather will be partly cloudy with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds.
In Northeast India, heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh from May 18 to 20, in Assam and Meghalaya until May 24, and in Tripura and Nagaland from May 18.
