The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for the three coastal districts — Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada — due to the possibility of heavy rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that heavy rainfall is expected in 11 districts across the state for the next four days from October 13. The coastal and Malnad regions are likely to receive significant rainfall during this period. IMD Issued Heavy Rainfall Alert For 11 Districts In Karnataka.

Due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal and the transition from the Southwest Monsoon to the Northeast Monsoon (retreating monsoon), several parts of Karnataka are witnessing a fresh spell of rainfall.

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for the three coastal districts — Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada — due to the possibility of heavy rainfall. Over the past two days, several parts of the state, especially districts like Vijayanagara in North Karnataka, experienced dry weather and intense heat.

For people who were facing summer-like conditions even during the monsoon season, the upcoming rainfall is expected to bring much-needed relief. However, as sea conditions are likely to remain rough along the coastal belt, fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea and take necessary precautions.

A significant change in weather conditions is also expected in the state capital, Bengaluru. The city is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky today, with chances of moderate rainfall during the evening or night. The maximum temperature in Bengaluru is expected to remain around 31°C, while the minimum temperature may be around 19°C.

In the northern interior districts of Karnataka, including Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Koppal, and Gadag, dry weather is expected to continue for now, with chances of scattered moderate rainfall in some areas. However, the IMD has predicted that the impact of the Northeast Monsoon will reach these regions after October 15, bringing the possibility of thunderstorms and rainfall.
