Mangaluru: In a shocking incident in the Bajpe police station limits, four youths riding a motorcycle attacked a man with a knife on Monday, attempting to kill him. The attack took place in Edapadav, where the victim, identified as Akhilesh, was targeted by the group while they were riding together on a single bike.
According to the police, Akhilesh noticed the youths carrying knives and was recording a video of them when they suddenly turned on him, slashing at his hands with the weapon. Fortunately, Akhilesh managed to escape with injuries to his hands.
In a swift response, locals managed to apprehend one of the attackers and handed him over to the police. However, the other three attackers managed to flee the scene. “We have identified all four suspects involved in the attack.
They are from the Muslim community, and CCTV footage shows them exiting a bar just before the incident. We are currently investigating whether they were intoxicated or under the influence of any substances at the time of the attack,” said Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy.
The police are actively searching for the remaining three suspects, and senior officers are overseeing the investigation. Authorities are also exploring the possibility of the assailants being influenced by alcohol or drugs during the attack. The investigation is ongoing, with the police urging anyone with further information to come forward.
