Bengaluru: In a major breakthrough in the sensational ₹7.11 crore heist that shook the city, Bengaluru Police have recovered nearly ₹5.5 crore so far. The investigation has widened across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, with police suspecting that around ₹1.5 crore was taken to Chennai.
A total of eight accused are currently under police scrutiny, including four staff members of CMS, constable Annappa, former CMS employee Xavier, and two men from Kalyan Nagar who had provided the vehicle used in the robbery. Police sources confirmed that all eight are being interrogated across various stations in the South Division.
Multi-state hunt intensifies
Investigation teams have been deployed in Chennai, where one suspect has already been detained, and in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. With the alleged masterminds Annappa Naik and Xavier now in police custody, investigators believe they are close to uncovering the full route map of the robbery and the money trail.
Innova recovered near Chittoor
A crucial piece of evidence emerged when an Innova linked to the case was found abandoned near Chittoor. Forensic and fingerprint experts are examining the vehicle to determine how many people travelled in it, and whether it was the primary getaway vehicle or planted to mislead investigators.
Police are also probing whether the same car was used during the robbery or switched later.
Fake number plates, disguise suspected
Significant discrepancies have surfaced regarding the car’s registration details. On the day of the robbery, CCTV footage showed the vehicle carrying a “Government of India” sticker and a Karnataka registration number. However, the recovered Innova bears a Uttar Pradesh number plate, suggesting a deliberate attempt to misdirect police.
Investigators also found evidence that the original sticker had been removed, strengthening suspicion of multiple number plate changes to avoid tracking.
Probe entering key stage
Authorities believe the recovery of the Innova and the detention of suspects in Chennai could lead to the remaining missing cash. Teams are now piecing together call records, movement patterns and CCTV inputs to reconstruct the exact sequence of events before and after the heist.
Police sources indicate the case is now in an advanced stage, with major revelations expected soon as interrogation of the key accused continues.
