After CCB Interrogation, Snehamayi Krishna Apologises to Chief Secretary, Stands by Charges Against Ex-MUDA Official

Bengaluru: In a dramatic turn of events, activist Snehamayi Krishna has retracted his serious bribery allegation against Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, just a day after being questioned extensively by the Central Crime Branch.

Krishna had earlier alleged that ₹1.60 crore was paid as a bribe to the Chief Secretary in connection with the promotion of former MUDA Commissioner Natesh. The allegation created ripples in administrative and political circles. However, following nearly 23 hours of interrogation and searches at his Mysuru properties, Krishna altered his stance.

Addressing the media after the probe, he stated that while the controversial audio clip discussing financial transactions is authentic, the portion implicating Shalini Rajneesh was incorrect. He offered a public apology to the Chief Secretary for naming her in the alleged bribery matter.

Krishna, however, reaffirmed his claims against Natesh, asserting that a financial transaction did take place between Natesh and Vinod, who allegedly recorded the conversation. He clarified that the issue was separate from the MUDA case but maintained that the audio reflects genuine financial dealings.

The CCB has since arrested Vinod and initiated forensic examination of the recording. Investigators are analysing whether the clip was tampered with or selectively presented.

The development has triggered sharp political reactions. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi questioned the timing of Krishna’s detention, suggesting possible interference. In response, state ministers including Priyank Kharge and Dinesh Gundu Rao rejected the allegation, stating that legal procedures were being followed.

While Krishna’s U-turn has eased pressure on the Chief Secretary, the probe into the audio evidence and the alleged financial dealings continues.
