Youth’s death in lodge traced to kidney failure; woman cleared of suspicion

Bengaluru: The mysterious death of 20-year-old youth Takshit from Puttur, who was found dead in a lodge at Madiwala last week, has been clarified by the postmortem report. The report indicates that he died of kidney failure, ruling out any foul play or involvement of the woman who was with him.

According to police, Takshit and a 20-year-old woman from Virajpet, Payal (name changed), had been staying together at Grand Choice Lodge in Madiwala since October 9.

On October 17, Payal reportedly left for Kodagu after lunch, but later that night, Takshit was found dead in the room. Initial suspicions arose over the woman’s role in the incident, prompting the police to investigate from all angles.

The autopsy findings have now confirmed that Takshit’s death was due to kidney failure, and medical experts revealed that he had pre-existing liver issues and asthma, which might have worsened his condition.

Madiwala police sources said the two were in a relationship for the past two years and had planned to get married. Both had dropped out of college and arrived in Bengaluru on September 27, staying initially at different lodges before shifting to Madiwala a week before the incident.

Police recorded Payal’s statement, and Takshit’s parents have not accused her of any wrongdoing. Investigations also revealed that Takshit was a chain smoker and an alcohol addict, which likely contributed to his deteriorating health. His parents reportedly suffer from asthma as well.

Police have collected several samples and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further examination. The exact medical cause of death will be confirmed after the FSL report is received. A UDR (Unnatural Death Report) case has been registered at Madiwala Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
