Sajid Khan should be in jail not in Bigg Boss: Delhi women’s panel chief after getting rape threats.

Maliwal’s statement was preceded by a complaint to the Delhi Police regarding rape threats against her on social media following the Delhi Commission for Women’s letter to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur asking him to intervene and remove Sajid Khan from the latest season of Bigg Boss.

“During the MeToo campaign in 2018, women accused Sajid Khan of sexual harassment. Why is such a person on the Bigg Boss show? Jail is the place for such people. I have received rape threats on Instagram that Sajid Khan will rape me when he comes out of Bigg Boss. I have sent a complaint to Delhi Police,” Maliwal told India Today.

In her complaint addressed to DCP Prashant Gautam of the Delhi Police Cyber Crime Department, she said, “As you may be aware, in 2018, during the MeToo movement, over 10 actresses, models and journalists spoke out against the alleged sexual offences committed by Sajid Khan.

Subsequently, he was suspended from the Indian Film and Television Directors Association from directing movies for a year. ”The women’s panel chief said Sajid’s Bigg Boss Season 16 entry was an apparent attempt to ‘whitewash’ his image.

“The commission took cognizance of the same and wrote a letter to Anurag Thakur, l&B Minister seeking Sajid Khan’s removal from the primetime show. In view of the Commission, giving an opportunity for a ‘re-launch’ to an alleged sexual predator like Sajid Khan is unwarranted and sends a wrong message to society as well as to the women who risked their careers to expose him,” she mentioned.

“Ever since the commission acted in the matter, threats are being received online on the Instagram account of the undersigned. In both threats, the men have stated that Sajid Khan will rape the undersigned,” she stated, adding that she had attached evidence, too.

However, earlier in the day, Sajid Khan found support from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The union has written a letter to the minister of information and broadcasting, Anurag Thakur. In the letter, FWICE said that Sajid was banned for a year and has served the punishment. The ban was lifted in March 2019.

“During this action initiated by the IFTDA and the FWICE, Sajid Khan was issued the non-cooperation from FWICE and was banned from working in the Film Industry for one year. Sajid Khan had co-operated with the IFTDA and FWICE and obeyed the decision of the POSH Committee.

FWICE was satisfied with his behaviour during the period of his Ban and after the completion of the one year of this punishment the BAN on Shri Sajid Khan was lifted by the FWICE on 14.03.2019. Sajid Khan has now entered into the BIGG BOSS to earn his living,” the film body mentioned.
