Man dies after drinking kerosene to cure Covid-19: test report comes out Negative

Bhopal: A 30-year old man a tailor by profession who had fever died allegedly after he consumed kerosene to get rid of the illness. The deceased, identified as Mahendra, suspected that he was down with COVID-19, and drank kerosene believing that it cures the disease.

Later, His coronavirus test result, however, came out to be negative. According to the police, Mahendra, a tailor by profession, lived with his family in Bhopal’s Shiv Nagar Hinotia locality. He had fever for nearly five to six days. Despite taking medicines, his body temperature didn’t come down. He grew suspicious of having contracted COVID-19.

An acquaintance told him that kerosene kills coronavirus. Believing him, Mahendra consumed kerosene around 9 pm on Wednesday last week. As his condition worsened, his family dashed him to a nearby hospital. The hospital authorities refused to admit him, citing non-availability of bed, and told his family to rush him to Hamidia hospital.

“Around two days ago, when his family members were informed that a bed was available at a private hospital in Ahsoka Garden, they shifted him there. Doctors declared him dead on Saturday. A police officer said that the hospital authorities took his samples for COVID-19 test. The test report came in negative, the officer added.
