Hindu Woman: Police have arrested Mohammad Ishaq, accused of deceiving a Hindu woman by establishing physical intimacy under the pretense of marriage and later pressuring her to convert to Islam after she refused to do so.
The victim had filed a complaint at HSR Layout. As the incident fell under the jurisdiction of Amruthahalli Police Station, the case was transferred accordingly.
According to the police, Ishaq initially convinced the victim of his intentions to marry her, establishing physical relations. Later, together with his family, he tried to coerce her into converting, but when she refused, Ishaq became engaged to another Muslim woman.
Sequence of Events
The victim and Ishaq first connected on Instagram on October 17, 2024, gradually developing a friendship that turned romantic through messaging.
They met in person for the first time on October 30, 2024, at a mall in Thannisandra, where Ishaq assured her of marriage. On the same day, he booked a room in a private hotel in Dasarahalli and continued intimate relations, further convincing her of his marital intentions.
Shortly after, the victim discovered that Ishaq was involved with multiple other women. Despite his engagement to another woman on September 14, 2025, Ishaq allegedly continued interacting with the victim.
She stated in her complaint that she faced emotional trauma, attempted suicide, and that Ishaqβs family pressured her to convert if she wished to marry him. The victim expressed her distress over being deceived after a year-long relationship.
The police are investigating the case further, and Ishaq remains in custody. Authorities have emphasized that acts of deception and coercion, particularly involving religious conversion, will be dealt with strictly under the law.
