Forest rape case: Young women Survived with the help of friend

Kanker: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a young woman in a forest in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district , police said on Friday. Kanker Police Station Station Officer (SHO) Sharad Dubey said that the incident took place in Vascongera Forest under Kanker Police Station on Wednesday and the accused has been arrested. Police said that the victim is a college student and she tracked down the accused. Officials said the accused took the victim to the forest on the pretext of going out in his car and raped her. According to the complaint, when the girl tried to rape her, she protested and called her classmate. But he grabbed her phone and threw it in the back seat of the car, she said.

As the call was not disconnected, the victim’s classmate heard her screams on the phone and immediately contacted the police. He said that she was rescued after locating the phone. The accused has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 376 (2) (n) (repeated rape of the same woman), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The incident took place in Vyaskongera forest under Kanker police station limits on Wednesday, following which the accused was arrested, said Sharad Dubey, the station house officer (SHO) of Kanker police station.The victim is a college student, and she knew the accused, he said.The accused allegedly took the victim in his car to the forest on the pretext of an outing and allegedly raped her, the official said.

As per the complaint, when the woman resisted the rape bid and telephoned her classmate, the accused snatched her phone and threw it in the back seat of the car, he said.
