Assam minor found dead in Electronic City, police suspect sexual assault

Bengaluru : A minor girl from Assam, who had gone missing earlier this week, was found dead in a deserted area of Electronic City on Saturday, with police suspecting that she was sexually assaulted before being murdered.

According to police, the victim was staying with her parents in a shed near Vittasandra on the outskirts of the city. On Thursday evening, the girl had stepped out to play near her residence but did not return home. Her parents searched for her in nearby areas but were unable to trace her.

Following this, a missing complaint was registered on Friday at the Electronic City Police Station. Police teams then began a search operation in and around the locality.

On Saturday evening, during the search, the girl’s body was found in a deserted eucalyptus grove in the Bolugutta area. Police said the body was found in a naked condition. Based on preliminary findings, suspicion has been raised that the minor was sexually assaulted before being killed.Police also stated that the victim’s face had been severely damaged, allegedly using a stone. Officials suspect that this may have been done to prevent identification.

Senior police officers visited the scene and conducted an inspection. Forensic teams also visited the spot and collected evidence for further analysis.A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act along with other relevant sections. Police have formed special teams to identify and trace the accused involved in the crime.

Officials said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined as part of the investigation. Statements from local residents are also being recorded.Police stated that all possible angles are being probed and further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the investigation.
