54-Year-Old Karnataka Man Booked for Sending Naked Pictures To 200 People

Bengaluru: In a shameful incident, a 54-year-old man from Challakere in Karnataka’s Chitradurga allegedly harassed more than 200 unknown people, including 120 women, by sending them nude photos over a span of six months.

The accused, identified as O Ramakrishna, was arrested on Friday. Police said that several Challakere residents had complained that they had received explicit photos from an unknown phone number, following which a probe was launched, The Times of India reported.

Police probe Initially, the police failed to trace the accused as his mobile phone was switched off. However, on Friday, he switched the phone on, following which police, using technical surveillance, traced his location and nabbed him.

Ramakrishna, during interrogation, admitted to having sent the nude photos. He said that he would dial random phone numbers from his mobile phone and would send nude photos if the phone rang. He sent the photos to at least 50 women from Challakere, but they were hesitant to report it to the police. However, after Ramakrishna’s arrest on Friday, several women approached the police and filed complaints

An offence has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. Prostitution racket busted in Bengaluru. Two cases of cricket betting were also detected in the ongoing IPL season and Rs 12 lakh cash was seized.

“The City Crime Branch conducted three raids, in which two cases of cricket betting were detected and Rs 12 lakh seized. A prostitution racket was busted at a lodge in Cottonpet area. Seven women were rescued and five accused arrested,” Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) tweeted.
