1 passenger killed, 15 injured in KSRTC bus accident at Karnataka- Kerala border

Mangaluru: A bus travelling from Bengaluru to Mankuttam in Kerala’s Kannur district collided with another bus, killing the driver and injuring roughly 15 passengers. The bus driver, a Volvo from the Karnataka State Transport Corporation.

Had lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree in the early hours of the morning near the Kerala-Karnataka boundary. “The incident occurred about 4.45 a.m. when the driver lost control of the bus shortly after crossing the Perumbadi checkpoint and colliding with a tree. The accident occurred at the Kerala-Karnataka border between Makkuta and Perambadi “Inspector BS Sridhar of Virajpet said.

According to the police, a handful of the 15 injured, including the conductor, were transported to Virajpet Taluk hospital, while the remainder were taken to a hospital in Iritty in Kannur. Unfortunately, Swami, the bus driver, died on the route to the hospital. The passengers that were unharmed arrived at their destination.

The driver lost control of the vehicle after losing vision due to heavy rains and fog in the area. The crash completely wrecked the front half of the bus. Police, fire department officials, and members of the public came to help clean the debris. Officials from the Kerala and Karnataka Fire Departments collaborated on the rescue mission.
