Chinnaswamy stadium gears up for IPL 2026; free metro travel likely for fans

With the Karnataka government granting permission, RCB will host its matches at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, triggering huge anticipation among cricket enthusiasts.

Bengaluru : The countdown for Indian Premier League 2026 has officially begun, and excitement is building among fans as ticket sales for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) home matches are set to open soon. With the Karnataka government granting permission, RCB will host its matches at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, triggering huge anticipation among cricket enthusiasts.

Preparations at the stadium are already in full swing ahead of the tournament. According to RCB management, the ticket booking process is expected to begin within the next couple of days. The franchise has announced via its official channels that tickets will be available exclusively through its website and mobile application, cautioning fans against purchasing from third-party platforms.

As per the usual process, early access to tickets will be given to registered RCB app members before being opened to the general public. Detailed information regarding ticket pricing, seating categories, gate entry points, and stadium layout is likely to be released officially soon.

RCB is scheduled to play its first home match on March 28 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, followed by a high-voltage clash against Chennai Super Kings on April 5. These fixtures are expected to draw packed crowds, with fans eagerly waiting to watch their favourite players in action at the home ground.

Amid earlier concerns and rumours regarding the hosting of matches in Bengaluru, authorities have now cleared all hurdles. Police and civic agencies have coordinated closely to ensure smooth conduct of the games, with enhanced security and crowd management measures being put in place.

In a major relief for fans, plans are underway to provide free metro travel for ticket holders on match days. This initiative is expected to ease traffic congestion around the stadium and encourage the use of public transport. Additionally, designated parking arrangements have been finalised, with facilities available at locations such as Garuda Mall, St. Joseph’s institutions, and Freedom Park.

Entry routes have also been streamlined, with access provided through key roads including Cubbon Road and surrounding link roads. Authorities are taking extra precautions to prevent any untoward incidents, especially in light of past crowd-related mishaps during large gatherings.

While ticket prices for the 2026 season have not yet been officially announced, last season’s rates ranged from ₹2,300 to ₹42,000, indicating a similar pricing band this year. With demand expected to surge, fans are advised to book early through official channels.

Overall, the stage is set for a thrilling IPL season in Bengaluru, with RCB fans gearing up for electrifying matches and a vibrant stadium atmosphere.
