Vijayapura Court Sentences Father to 20 Years in Prison for Raping Five-Year-Old Daughter
Vijayapura: The special court in Vijayapura has sentenced a father to 20 years of life imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 rupees for the heinous crime of raping his five-year-old daughter.
The father, who committed the assault, had also caused widespread outrage in the district. Today, the court delivered its verdict after hearing the case.
What happened?
Due to domestic discord with his wife, the accused father raped his five-year-old daughter. The incident occurred in Inchgiri village of Chadchana taluk.
On August 30, 2025, during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, he took his young daughter to a secluded area in Alkuunte Nagar, Vijayapura, under the pretense of showing her Ganesh idols, and assaulted her in the evening.
The child’s mother filed a complaint with Vijayapura Women’s Police Station under sections 65(2) BNS-2023 and 5(M)6 of the Poxo Act 2012.

During the investigation, evidence was examined, and the Vijayapura special Poxo judge, Ms. Sindhu Potdar, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment along with a fine of 50,000 rupees.
Police officials from the Women’s Police Station, including Jayavant Dulari, R. E. Dinni, P. Y. Ambigere, and staff members Vijay Kothyal, R. G. Dewoor, S. M. Koluragi, S. K. Badachi, and Kumar Desai Dosharope, provided their reports. The case was prosecuted on behalf of the government by Special Prosecutor V. G. Hagar.
