Financial and Postal Services in India:

SBI Credit Card Rules: SBI has revised its credit card rewards program. Starting today, certain SBI cardholders will no longer earn reward points on transactions related to digital gaming, government websites, and select merchants.

Registered Post and Speed Post Merger: The Department of Posts (DoP) has merged its domestic Registered Post service with Speed Post. This means any domestic mail sent as a registered post will now be delivered as a Speed Post.

Income Tax Return (ITR) Filing Deadline Extension: The deadline for filing ITR for individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who do not require an audit has been extended from July 31, 2025, to September 15, 2025.

Silver Jewellery Hallmarking: Voluntary hallmarking for silver jewelry has been implemented. This system, overseen by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), uses a Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) number to certify the purity of silver.

LPG Cylinder Prices: Oil marketing companies have revised the prices of commercial 19 kg LPG cylinders, with a price reduction taking effect today. Domestic cylinder prices may also see a change.

Special Fixed Deposit (FD) Schemes: Banks like Indian Bank and IDBI Bank are offering special FD schemes with attractive interest rates, but the deadline to invest in these is approaching later in September.

Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) Deadline: Central government employees under the National Pension System (NPS) have until September 30, 2025, to switch to the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
