Mamata Banerjee suffered severe injuries on ankle and shoulder, says doctor

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was rushed to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday after she was allegedly attacked while campaigning in Nandigram hours after she filed her nomination. Doctor treating the TMC leader confirmed that she has suffered severe bone injuries on her ankle and shoulder and will be kept under observation fro 48 hours.

Dr M Bandopadhya, IPGMER & SSKM Hospital said, “Initial examination suggests severe bony injuries in her left ankle, foot and bruises, injuries in right shoulder, forearm and neck. Chief Minister complained of chest pain, breathlessness since the incident. She is kept under close watch for 48 hours.”

Meanwhile, tweeting a picture of Mamata banerjee from the hospital, Abhishek Banerjee wrote, “BJP- Brace yourselves to see the power of people of BENGAL on Sunday, May 2nd.

Talking to the media, minister Partha Chatterjee said, “Cowards have been trying to stop Mamata Banerjee but no one has been able to. Firstly, state ADG Law & Order was removed then DG & now with this… I’m surprised to see how EC, who made all changes, is silent. They must take responsibility.”
