Namma Metro Yellow Line will start from August, Trial runs from July 22
Namma Metro: Good news for Bengaluru commuters! The Namma Metro Yellow Line is indeed nearing its operational launch. Namma Metro Yellow Line will start from August, Trial runs from July 22.
While specific dates for July 22-25 weren’t found in the latest reports, trial runs have been ongoing for a while. The line has also just received the crucial Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) certification as of July 19, 2025. This certification is mandatory for the driverless trains and signalling systems to operate.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is hopeful of opening the Yellow Line by August 15, 2025, with three sets of trains initially. However, some reports suggest this deadline might be missed. The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is expected to conduct a statutory safety inspection of the Yellow Line next week.
This is the final major hurdle before the line can be opened for passenger service. The line can only be commissioned after receiving safety clearance from the CMRS. BMRCL officials have indicated that they might launch the metro line in a phased manner between late July and early August 2025, possibly with partial services and a limited number of stations opening initially.
Currently, BMRCL has three train sets ready for the Yellow Line. A fourth train set is expected to be dispatched from Kolkata by the fourth week of July. More train sets are crucial for increasing train frequency, with two new trains expected per month starting in September, aiming for all 15 train sets by March 2026.

In summary, the Yellow Line is in its final stages of approvals and preparations. The ISA certification has been received, and the crucial CMRS inspection is expected soon. While an August 15 launch is being targeted, it will depend on the swift completion of the CMRS inspection and any subsequent clearances.
