Mahindra Thar EMI Plan Lets Buyers Own the SUV With One Lakh Down Payment
Mahindra Thar buyers can bring home the popular SUV with a down payment of one lakh. A simple loan plan allows middle class customers to own the vehicle with manageable monthly EMI payments.

For many SUV lovers in India, the Mahindra Thar has long been considered a dream vehicle. Known for its rugged design and strong road presence, the SUV is now becoming more accessible to buyers thanks to flexible financing options.
Customers planning to purchase the vehicle can start with a down payment of around one lakh rupees. After paying the initial amount, the remaining cost can be financed through a car loan, making it possible for many middle class families to own the popular SUV.
The base diesel variant of the Mahindra Thar AX is priced at about Rs 9.99 lakh ex showroom. Once taxes and registration charges are included, the on road price in cities like Delhi reaches around Rs 11.36 lakh.
Mahindra Thar EMI and Loan Details
If a buyer pays one lakh rupees as the down payment, the remaining amount to be financed would be close to Rs 10.36 lakh. With a car loan taken for seven years at an interest rate of around nine percent, the estimated monthly EMI would be about Rs 16667.
Over the full loan tenure, buyers may end up paying roughly Rs 3.64 lakh as interest on the financed amount. This means the overall cost of the vehicle could reach close to Rs 15 lakh by the time the loan is completely repaid.
Despite the higher total repayment, many buyers still consider the Thar an attractive option because of its strong resale value and durable build quality.
SUV Built for Adventure and Road Presence
The Mahindra Thar stands out in the SUV segment with its high ground clearance and robust construction. It is especially popular among buyers who enjoy off road driving, long highway journeys and weekend adventure trips.
In the current market, the Thar competes with vehicles like the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. While the Jimny is often preferred for city driving, the Thar attracts buyers who want a bold design, strong performance and impressive off road capability.
Although it may feel slightly large for everyday city commuting, the SUV continues to remain a favorite choice for those looking for a combination of style, power and adventure.
