TVS Motor Sees 44 Percent Growth in iQube and Orbiter Electric Scooter Sales

TVS Motor’s electric scooter sales surge in March with innovative battery-as-a-service options boosting affordability and driving the company’s dominance amid growing competition in India’s EV market

TVS Motor has reported a significant increase in the sales of its electric scooters, with March figures showing a growth of nearly 44 percent compared to the same period last year. The company sold 38,877 units, up from 26,935 units in March 2025, strengthening its position in the rapidly expanding electric two-wheeler segment in India.

The company’s electric scooter lineup includes popular models such as the iQube and the Orbiter. The recent growth comes amid stiff competition from Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy, yet TVS Motor maintained the leading spot last financial year with total sales of approximately 3,30,145 units. Bajaj Auto followed with nearly 2,76,518 units sold of its Chetak electric scooters. Overall, the electric two-wheeler market in India surpassed 13.5 lakh units last financial year, growing more than 17 percent year-on-year.

A key development driving recent sales has been the introduction of the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) option for the Orbiter electric scooter. With BaaS, customers can purchase the 1.8 kWh Orbiter variant at a lower upfront cost of 49,999 rupees ex-showroom in Delhi, while paying a separate battery rental. This approach also offers long-term battery assurance from TVS Motor. The scooter delivers an IDC range of around 86 kilometers per charge, catering to daily city commutes.

The iQube series continues to expand, with the 3.1 kWh variant enhancing urban mobility. Offering a range of over 120 kilometers, this variant comes in dual-tone color options and is designed for city driving. Alongside the existing models, TVS Motor has six scooters under the iQube brand, further consolidating its presence in the market.

Looking ahead, the company is preparing to launch the M1-S, an electric maxi-scooter developed in collaboration with ION Mobility. This upcoming model is expected to feature a seven-inch TFT display supporting calls, navigation, SMS alerts, and connectivity features, combining technology and comfort for longer rides.

With these strategic moves and innovative offerings like BaaS, TVS Motor is reinforcing its leadership in the electric two-wheeler space, appealing to both affordability-conscious buyers and tech-savvy urban commuters.
