Pakistani woman accuses Indian-origin husband of abandoning her; appeals to PM Modi for justice

New Delhi: A Pakistani woman from Karachi has released a desperate video appeal accusing her Indian-origin husband of abandoning her at the Attari border and preparing for a secret second marriage in Delhi. The video, posted by Nikita Nagdev, has triggered outrage across social media and legal circles in both India and Pakistan.

According to Nikita, she married Vikram Nagdev — a Pakistan-born man who holds a long-term Indian visa and lives in Indore — on January 26, 2020, in Karachi as per Hindu rituals. A month later, on February 26, 2020, Vikram brought her to India.

However, within months, her life “turned upside down,” she said. On July 9, 2020, Nikita alleges that Vikram abandoned her at the Attari border, citing a “visa technical error,” after which she was forcibly sent back to Pakistan.

“Since that day, he has never made an effort to bring me back. I kept pleading with him to call me to India, but he refused every single time,” Nikita said in her emotional video message.

She further claimed that Vikram is now preparing to remarry in Delhi without legally ending their marriage. Appealing directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nikita said: “If I don’t get justice today, women will lose faith in the system. Many girls suffer physical and mental abuse in their marital homes. I request everyone to stand with me.”

Her allegations have sparked calls for an inquiry, with activists demanding cross-border legal assistance and action against fraudulent marriages involving foreign nationals.
