Bantwal: A shocking incident occurred at a textile shop on BC Road on Wednesday evening, where a woman allegedly attacked her husband with a knife, leaving him critically injured. The accused, Jyothi Somayaji, reportedly entered the shop dressed in a burqa and assaulted her husband, Krishna Kumar Somayaji, at the cash counter before fleeing the scene.
The seriously injured Krishna Somayaji was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru and is currently receiving treatment in the emergency care unit. Bantwal city police acted swiftly to arrest the accused Jyothi Somayaji shortly after the attack.
Police sources stated that the incident appears to be linked to ongoing domestic disputes. Investigations are underway to determine whether the attack was motivated by financial disagreements, property disputes, or other personal conflicts. Officers at the Bantwal City Police Station are probing all possible angles, including prior reports of domestic discord within the family.
βThe accused has been taken into custody, and we are investigating the exact motive behind this attack. We are also questioning witnesses and examining any related prior complaints,β a police official said.
