Caste Survey: The District Collector has issued an order suspending a school teacher who was appointed as an enumerator in the social and educational survey of the citizens of the state being conducted by the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission but did not attend the survey.

Venkatesh PB, co-teacher of Brahmavara Shettibet government high school is a suspended teacher. He was appointed and ordered as enumerator for the survey. But he had not received the appointment order. He refused to accept the copy of the appointment order despite contacting him several times over phone.

Therefore, a notice was issued to him asking for the reason, but till now the notice has not been served. For these reasons surveyor Venkatesh P.B. He was ordered suspended.

Similarly, District Collector Swaroop TK said in the announcement that if any surveyor shows negligence in the survey work, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.

The Karnataka Socio-Economic and Educational Survey, popularly known as the caste survey or caste census, is a large-scale exercise undertaken by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes (KSCBC) to gather comprehensive data on the social, economic, and educational conditions of all residents in the state.

The door-to-door enumeration for the current survey began on September 22, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed by October 7, 2025. The exercise aims to cover nearly 7 crore people across approximately 1.43 crore households in the state.

The KSCBC has been directed to complete the survey work quickly and is expected to submit its report to the government by December 2025.
