Udupi JMFC Court granted conditional bail to Mahesh Shetty Thimarody

Mahesh Shetty Thimarody has been granted conditional bail by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Udupi. He was arrested for allegedly making derogatory and provocative remarks against B.L. Santhosh, the national general secretary of the BJP.

While granting bail, the judge issued a stern warning to Thimarody, cautioning him against repeating such remarks. Mahesh Shetty Thimarody was arrested by the Udupi police in connection with a case filed against him for allegedly making derogatory and defamatory remarks against BJP national general secretary, B.L. Santhosh.

The arrest came after Thimarody failed to respond to two notices from the police asking him to appear for questioning. The police team went to his residence in Ujire, where they reportedly faced some obstruction from his supporters. Thimarody himself refused to travel in the police vehicle and was allowed to go in his own car, accompanied by a police convoy.

The case was filed by the president of the Udupi Rural BJP Mandal, Rajeev Kulal, at the Brahmavar police station. The charges against Thimarody were filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including statements conducing to public mischief and intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace.
